Definition of SEN
The Code of Practice states that, ‘A child or young person has SEN if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made that is additional to or different from that made generally for other children or young people of the same age.’ (CoP 2015, p16)

Our ethos and approach
At St Hild’s CE Primary School, we are fully committed to the equal inclusion of all pupils in all areas of school life. We recognise that all pupils are entitled to a quality of provision that will enable them to achieve their potential. We believe in positive intervention, removing barriers to learning, raising expectations and levels of achievement and we work in partnership with other agencies in order to provide a positive educational experience for all our pupils including those with a special educational need or disability.
At St Hild’s we recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our children and take into account the additional support required by those children with SEN. Our school is committed to anti-discriminatory practice to promote equality of opportunity and we value diversity and individuality for all children and families.
SEND Information Report Review Arrangements
Our SEND Information Report is reviewed annually and should be read alongside our SEND Policy, Equalities Information and Objectives, Safeguarding Policy and Accessibility plan. Parents are encouraged to contribute to and help us to improve this Report through their contributions at SEN review meetings and through our annual parental questionnaire. Children’s views are gathered through annual questionnaires, SEN review discussions and circle time activities.
