Welcome to our first ever Caterpillar class! We hope you are ready for the new and exciting experiences awaiting you. Miss Jones is really looking forward to teaching you this year. We are going to help you to learn many new things and have lots of fun!

The children have loved exploring in a sensory themed tuff tray! They particularly enjoyed the different noises they could create using the different resources. Some children enjoyed the coloured sheets, holding them up to see the world in a different colour. All of the children really enjoyed the mirrors. They got super excited when they found their reflection. The children have loved exploring the tuff tray using their senses, touch, listen, look, and taste.
This week was National Storytelling Week! 📖
In the Caterpillar Room we focused on ‘That’s not my penguin’ 🐧. We created a tuff tray with the different key words from the story by adding different material to focus on the sensory exploration! We also added in our winter sensory bottles.

The children have loved exploring the different resources using their senses.
Pancake Day!🥞 Yum yum!😋
Our children have enjoyed tasting some pancakes for snack alongside some lovely blueberries and raspberries!
We also enjoyed exploring in the flour in the tuff tray using the different resources in different ways, banging, making marks and getting messy! We had so much fun!😁
Our first World Book Day! 📚📖
Wow what a fun day! Everyone looked super cute in their pjs!🥰
We have enjoyed sharing different stories together through the day! The children have loved exploring using their senses in both trays. We added wooden fruit to the hungry caterpillar tuff tray and the children have enjoyed pretending to eat the fruit saying “mmmm”. Our caterpillar has definitely been hungry today, we used our fine motor skills to feed him the cards. 🐛
The children have enjoyed looking at the different characters from room on the broom. 🧙♀️ We had purple dried pasta in the cauldron and the children enjoyed using the wooden spoon to mix!🥄
Sensory Spring fun! 🌸🌷
This week the children have enjoyed exploring in different sensory experiences! We had coloured rice from stay and play, the children have been very engaged with this. They have enjoyed using their senses, watching and hearing the rice fall onto the tuff tray and bowls. They have enjoyed feeling the rice, scooping it up, dropping it down and swiping it across the tray. We also had gloop in the tuff tray, where the children have enjoyed using their hands to touch and move around. I added tulips for the children to explore. They enjoyed the feel and smell. The children used the spoons to mix and move around in the wet gloop.

The children have really enjoyed their time outdoors today. We have been exploring the garden using the trike and walker. We also brought our favourite toys out! We also found a ball! We hope the sun will continue to shine! 🤞🏻☀️
Last week we took a trip to the sensory room! The children really enjoyed the different coloured lights. We put the interactive mat on the floor. They were amazed with the different experiences. We had under the sea, where the fish moved along the screen. We will definitely visit the sensory room again soon!
World Water Day!🌎💧🌊
Splish Splash!💧
Today we celebrated World Water Day by splashing in the water in the tuff tray! The children had so much fun! We used wooden spoons and bowls to splash as well as our hands! We added some artificial flowers in for the children to use their fine motor skills to pick them out. 🌷🌸
